Founded in 1907, the Sainte-Justine University Hospital Centre (CHU Sainte-Justine) is a world-renowned pediatric and maternal-fetal hospital. Affiliated with the Université de Montréal, CHU Sainte-Justine is the largest mother-child centre in Canada and the second largest in North America. Every year, the hospital welcomes more than 30,000 hospitalized children, treats nearly 500,000 outpatient visits and delivers more than 7,000 babies.
CHU Sainte-Justine is a pioneer in many areas. It was the first hospital in North America to offer a pediatric residency program and the first to create a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Today, the hospital is a leader in the fields of pediatric oncology, cardiology and pulmonology, as well as maternal-fetal medicine.
The hospital has a strong commitment to research and education. With more than 1,200 employees, CHU Sainte-Justine is one of the largest employers in the Montréal region. The hospital trains more than 1,000 pediatricians, residents and fellows each year.
